Punch Pubs & Co have been crowned our first Company Sustainability Champions. Making your business sustainable isn’t just for small pub venues, but is something that should be implemented across every company and Punch Pubs & Co have led by example. Jessica Nicklin, Punch Pubs Sustainability Specialist, explains all the ways that this pub company have applied green attitudes across the Punch Team.“Educating team members on the importance of eco-friendly actions isn’t enough, Punch make sure to hold regular meeting with staff members to always be up to date on what is being done, and what more can they achieve to be efficient in their sustainability journey.”
They have selected four main Sustainable Development Goals to prioritise company-wise. These goals have been adopted by more than 80% of leading businesses and are the focus everywhere possible within the business.
Across the company, they have invested in new technology to update their less energy-efficient fridges and freezers, they have updated their recycling process to include separating materials as well as investing in a food waste bin that is sent to an anaerobic digestion facility.
The level of engagement company-wide is high, with every team member working hard to take on these new changes and incorporating them into their new daily routines.
“We have noticed a great deal of interest in our efforts to be more sustainable, from our guests coming into our pubs to new recruitments. It is important for us, and I am glad we can work toward an initiative that is good for people and the planet.”
