The Red Shoot Inn

The Red Shoot Inn is a sustainability champion because they have shown commitment to running a sustainable business. They have shown that they are actively involved in energy reduction, waste reduction, sustainable procurement, as well as pushing for customer and team engagement to being sustainable.

The Red Shoot Inn is a country pub and microbrewery located in the heart of the New Forest National Park. David Satchell, manager of The Red Shoot Inn, has implemented multiple sustainable actions across the pub, from the kitchen to the dining area.

With the cost-of-living crisis and energy bills rising, David wanted to make sure that his team is doing everything possible to reduce their energy usage – that includes turning off all lights and appliances when not in use, and not leaving any running water on. While these are all small changes, they build up quickly and have made significant changes to the pub’s day to day operations and costs.

Food and drink options at The Red Shoot Inn are sourced both locally and from sustainable suppliers, making sure that the pubs carbon footprint is reduced as much as possible. Within the pub, guests have access to a re-fill station where they can fill their re-usable bottles with water.

Richard encourages everyone at his pub to adopt sustainable behaviours both inside and outside the pub, and so we’re delighted to award The Red Shoot Inn with our Sustainability Champion Award.
