Since The Weavers Inn reopened under the stewardship of Chris and Jason in July 2021, changes to the pub have included a renovated roof terrace, the launch of their own app and the introduction of a takeaway offering for customers who wish to enjoy their delicious food at home. All the while, Chris and Jason have maintained a commitment to keep their venues sustainable, shown by the recent awarding of one of their other pubs, The Pityme Inn, as a Sustainability Champion.

Chris and Jason have smartly replaced the lights in The Weavers Inn with LED bulbs, which can reduce electricity usage of lighting by up to 85%. The pair have also put some lights on sensors to ensure that they are only on when required.

Their plastic packaging is heavily reduced by growing their herbs and vegetables on-site, whilst they have also upgraded their recycling to Zero to Landfill waste removal and therefore reducing the impact landfill sites have on the planet.

The team at The Weavers Inn are actively engaged in Chris and Jason’s vision for a more sustainable pub, participating in weekly team meetings on how they can make the pub even more sustainable. Staff are responsible for looking after the herbs and vegetables grown, taking pride in harvesting and using the produce in their recipes and dishes, helping to reduce their food mileage and become self-sufficient. They are also encouraged to bring produce such as blackberries from their own gardens.

Finally, in the garden of the pub, a variety of plants have been bedded that enable wildlife to prosper.
