As for working on carbon neutrality, Waste Source relies heavily on their IT infrastructure. All their online hosting is provided and managed by Memset, the UK’s first Carbon Neutral Web Host.
Waste Source provide and encourage their team to take an active role in sustainability, both inside and outside of the business. Team members volunteer in recycling pick-up projects and helping to plant more trees. Not only do they encourage their team members, but they also work with local schools, discussing careers in their sector. As for the workplace, Waste Source has encouraged their team to partake in the Cycle to Work scheme since 2011.
“We ensure our team is aligned with our vision by setting up an internal sustainability steering group to help team engagement and also drive changes in our social, environmental and business value.”
Since 2013, Waste Source has also donated 1% of their annual profits to safe water and sanitation charity: FRANK Water. FRANK Water helps fund innovative and sustainable clean water projects in India and Nepal.
Waste Source’s own HQ office is recycled! What used to be Bristol’s Tobacco Factory building is now a reused and refurbished office space for companies like Waste Source to use.
As the BII’s waste broker, Waste Source help companies and pubs across the country to work on their sustainable impact and how to operate a green business. Through simple steps as splitting up recycling to reducing overall business waste, they help companies recycle 30% more each year and save 30% on their waste services.
