Bleeding Wolf

About the Bleeding Wolf

The Bleeding Wolf is a family-run Grade II pub with a thatched roof and a lot of charm. The Bleeding Wolf is described as the community centre with all walks of life. People come in for catch ups over coffee, pints after work, many a birthday, engagement and celebrations of life. From home cooked meals by the fireplace, to a sunny beer garden with blossoming flowers, there’s something for everyone.

We ensure our customers become our people and we treat them like family. We do a lot of work for local charities and events for the community to help get people out and together.

“Our pub can only succeed surrounded by happy people – whether that be our work family or our customer family. We are surrounded by love and kindness, and we ensure that everyone using the pub especially our regulars are treated like family.”

About the Local Community

We open up our rooms for free to a local band, and a group of knitters every two weeks. During campaigns such as loneliness week, we open our pub up early for events. There are also some regulars that we check in on, such as a gent of 84 (still running) who goes for a run 4 times a week from the pub and we have a brew together after. He was recently diagnosed with cancer and Ryan, my partner and I supported him through this taking him for weekly treatments. We also make lunches for our older regulars, treat the old group of drinkers to chip butties and have contact numbers for family so that we can let them know if they aren’t themselves.

We have helped out at the pensioners lunch at the local hall and it was great fun so I have signed up to helping them out more – bi weekly lunch for pensioners- I washup , serve tea and coffee, natter , clean up etc and also helping out at a new dementia group arranged there. We also do a bistro table in conjunction with them, arranging a table on a Sunday for 4 older generation to come out for free to have some company.

About Local Businesses

As we are located in a small village, we like to use as many local suppliers as possible. We have a local florist who sells flowers in the pub, as well as using the space to advertise her services. While our food suppliers are through Robinsons, we use local businesses elsewhere for window cleaning, gardening and more, as I value these jobs go to the people in the village first.

About Staff at the Bleeding Wolf

My team are my extended family and I work hard to try and ensure that they have a life outside of work. Ensuring that their days off are appropriate for them and that they get time off at weekends etc so they get to see their families. We have a training team in place and offer apprenticeships for any staff wanting. Staff wellbeing (especially in this industry) is a day-to-day thing, sorting out a chefs financial problems, cheering people up after arguments at home is something I have to do daily.

My team are dedicated, hard-working and friendly, with a hunger to succeed and beat company expectations. We all work together to meet our goals, but more importantly they are some of the best friends we have.

About Charity Work at theBleeding Wolf

We work with 2 local charities on a yearly basis – Tri services – a veteran charity doing great work for ex-service men and women, and Greyhound Gap – a local dog rescue. We do charity events, such as dog shows, bingo and quizzes to help them raise much needed funds. Through these events we have raised £4,000 for Greyhound Gap and £5,000 for Tri Services. We also do free talks about the history of the local area on a monthly basis and take donations for the same charities.
