Ring O Bells St Issey

About Ring O Bells St Issey

I took on the Ring O Bells after it had been shut for months, although we are close to Padstow which is a super busy popular area, “Ringers” is often driven past. I loved the pub for many years and it was always the heart of then community and although I am from Padstow my Grandparents drank every single Sunday lunchtime here, and i didnt want a company or person to come in and change it. I do monthly charity quiz nights, go and do my neighbours weeding, i have started an unsung hero award, free craft club, free santa grotto, run food over to people who are unwell/off their feet. Basically anything the village needs i try to be the point of help.

Ringers is the heart of the community as it is a place to meet, chat, see people when you night live alone, it is always here whatever time in times of need. We are constantly fundraising and raising awareness for groups, charities, and community projects, it is a meeting place for free mulled wine and mince pies after the village lights Without these things the community spirit would die

About the Local Community

I run a free craft club where people can come and sit by the log burner and craft with like minded people for free, with free tea and coffee, support local businesses by allowing them to use the pub for free to hold meetings or workshops, donate prizes to every event that happens within the village or Padstow ie a Roast for 2/4.

A local lady had a stroke and was extremely involved with Bloom, when the weeds out on communal areas where growing i went and soent time gardening to sort this for her, I also made sure we did a drive by her house when we did carnival so she could feel part of it. Anyone who is off their feet i offer food at no charge, anything people need if i have time to do it, i will. I do work over 100 hrs a wk, run the pub ny myself and still have my 15 yr old daughter to care for, but i will always find time to help anyone.

About Local Businesses

I offer local businesses a free space to do workshops/hold meetings. Always donate raffle prizes to any fundraising they are doing. The amounts i have out for my fundraising is approx is probably more and constantly on-going. If anyone needed anything i would of course help where possible. I take time away to try and support other businesses and advertise events on my social media for them to help foot fall. I advertise for many different people/businesses on my notice board and try to help as much as i can in a struggling economy.

If my pub closed i am sure chains like bookers etc wouldn’t be affected greatly by my absence however, the locals that come in every night for their 2 pints, would miss the massive social connection they have with the village.

About Staff at Ring O Bells St Issey

My staff know i am always here to discuss any issues they might or have any further training they might need. I always regardless of shift time offer them the full menu to eat from at the end of shift. I give them when possible mothers day/fathers day family birthdays, and as much time off over Christmas/ new year as physically possible. I make sure I work even if it means shutting my kitchen so their family time isnt affected by working in hospitality. I let my chambermaid bring her children to work when childcare was an issue, and try to be supportive as i can in all areas. I always have my staffs back.

About Charity Work at Ring O Bells St Issey

I raise money throughout the year for the fishermens mission, this is a charity close to my heart after we lost my Uncle David in a fishing tragedy. I do this by having their charity box on the bar and selling polo shirts where 20% goes direct to the charity. I also run a monthly quiz for any village committees ie the bloom committee, the village minibus, the local brownies, this is selected by people nominating charities or simply asking me to do a fundraiser. I have raised money for the church, cancer charities, stroke charities, and also have an aie ambulance charity box for any spare change. Also if anyone says the C swear word they have to put a £1 in a charity box
