Supporting local businesses is part of The Anchor’s everyday ethos. We actively promote trusted local tradespeople through our community network and, wherever possible, choose local builders, suppliers and contractors to support our own business.
We proudly stock local beers, sell locally made products and showcase artwork by local artists, giving them a platform to display and sell their work. We also work with independent food vendors, helping them reach new customers through regular events.
Beyond this, we offer free Wi-Fi and a welcoming workspace for remote workers, freelancers and small business owners, as well as free meeting space for local businesses and networking groups. We believe the village pub should be more than somewhere to eat and drink, it should be a place where local businesses can connect, collaborate and grow.
By supporting local businesses in practical ways, we’re helping to strengthen our local economy and build a more connected community.
Our suppliers are partners, not just providers. We make a conscious decision to buy local wherever possible—working with local breweries, independent food vendors, artists, builders and tradespeople because we believe every pound spent locally strengthens our community.
In return, they support us with exceptional service, flexibility and a shared commitment to helping independent businesses thrive. These relationships are built on trust, loyalty and a genuine desire to see each other succeed.
If The Anchor closed, the village would lose far more than a pub. Our regulars would lose their second home, the Vicar and Village Association would lose a trusted meeting place, local groups would lose a welcoming hub, local suppliers would lose an important customer and showcase for their products, and independent businesses would lose an active champion.
