The Boars Head

About The Boars Head

The Boars Head is a proper village pub in the heart of Templeton, Pembrokeshire, and for me, it’s much more than just a pub.

When we took it on, we wanted to create somewhere that felt like the heart of the village again somewhere locals could be proud of and somewhere visitors would want to come back to. We’ve put a huge amount of time, money and effort into improving the pub, but we’ve always wanted to keep that traditional village pub feeling.

Templeton has a population of just over 1000 people. We are the only major business and hub with local people can meet to have a drink food and laugh and every single person in Templeton very well knows that they’ve always accepted and welcome to my business.

About the Local Community

We employ a lot of local people to the pub 60% are from Templeton area not just this we offer a discount to local people of Templeton.

About Local Businesses

We try our best to buy local even if that’s produce for our kitchen or for my local Brewery Templeton, Brewery. Although we are very, very busy establishment and the amount of meals we do a week is over 1200 diners. We always try to purchase local ingredients for the kitchen that’s from our local Butcher local wholesale or even if we buy our micro herbs from a local grower. We always thrive ourselves and we show it on our menu that we always support local to support local employment wherever we can.

Over the years, we have been come very well known establishment in the local area of Pembrokeshire. We are fortunate for local reps to always be around us always to support us as we support them.

About Staff at The Boars Head

looking after our staff has always been a really important part of running The Boars Head. Hospitality can be tough, and I know that if you look after your team properly, they will look after the business and our customers.

I try to be very hands-on and approachable. I want my staff to be able to come and speak to me, whether it’s about work, something they’re struggling with or simply an idea they think could make the pub better. I don’t want people to feel like they are just another number on a rota.

We also try to give people opportunities to progress. If someone shows the right attitude and wants to learn, I would much rather give them the opportunity to step up than simply bring someone in from outside. We have staff who have taken on more responsibility and developed into supervisors.

About Charity Work at The Boars Head

We are proud to support our local community and give back wherever we can. Recently, we donated to the Sir Gareth Edwards Cancer Research Fund following a charity event hosted by Sir Gareth Edwards. We also support local football clubs, helping them continue to provide opportunities for young people in our community. Most recently, we were proud to donate £2,000 to DEBRA UK, supporting families affected by EB. Giving back is an important part of who we are at The Boars Head. Always love to support charities
