We believe a strong community needs strong local businesses, so wherever we can, we try to support the people and businesses around us.
We work with local tradespeople and businesses for services, maintenance and events, and our entertainment programme provides regular paid opportunities for local DJs, musicians and performers.
We also use our social media reach to support and promote local organisations, events and good causes, helping them reach an audience they may not otherwise have access to.
Just as importantly, The Hayloft brings people into Giltbrook. Our sport, food and entertainment attract customers to the area, creating additional footfall that benefits the wider local economy.
For us, community isn’t just about our customers – it’s about supporting the network of local people, businesses and organisations that make the area thrive.
Our relationships with local suppliers are built on trust, loyalty and supporting each other.
Wherever possible, we use local tradespeople, contractors, entertainers and service providers. Over time, these relationships become much more than simply placing an order or booking a job – they get to know our pub, our team and what we need, while we provide them with regular, reliable business.
We also believe in recommending and promoting the people we work with. If a local business does a great job for us, we’re happy to shout about it and recommend them to others.
The relationship works both ways. When we need something urgently, having trusted local people who understand our business is invaluable, and in return The Hayloft provides income and opportunities that support other local livelihoods.
If our pub disappeared, the impact wouldn’t stop with our employees. Local contractors, musicians, DJs and other suppliers would all lose regular work and income.
That’s why we see every pound we can keep within our local economy as another small investment in the community around us.
