The Royal Dyche

About The Royal Dyche

The Royal Dyche is a wet-led independent community sports pub located in the heart of Burnley. What use to be a pub to avoid is now the go to destination for match day fans and every day regulars.

With something different going on every day of the week, our commitment to local charities and grassroots sport/music is everything we are about! We love trying do events, catering for all different groups of people and just bringing our community together!

You can’t even fully put into words what makes The Royal Dyche the heart of it’s community.

It’s something that happens naturally through the things you do as a pub. From charity events, to showcasing live sport and music. It’s about providing a safe and welcoming space for all to enjoy.

The Royal Dyche delivers this and so much more.

About the Local Community

We host a weekly Turf Talk group every Thursday alongside Burnley FC in the community – offering free room fire and complimentary tea/coffee. It’s a bit like a loneliness group, getting people out of the house and socialising with others.

Music wise we have an Open Deck Night and Jam Night on Tuesdays/Wednesdays. We provide all the equipment and DJ’s or musicians can just come down for a slot or just simply join in. It gives people opportunities to try something new and the equipment can be expensive so it breaks down the cost barrier of learning these skills.

Once a month we host a ‘DycheHound’ event which is a dog meet up group. It’s a very popular event with our staff members too! All breeds of well behaved dogs are welcome and we also encourage dog lovers down who don’t have a dog but just a lot of love for them. It’s always great fun!

This weekend we have organised our first Community Clean up! Our area has once again started to get neglected by our council and local authorities, so we have come together with residents, businesses and Burnley BID to do a community clean up. We are so passionate about our area and want to bring positive change, let’s hope it’s a success.

About Local Businesses

We have many collaborations.

Batch distillery are a Burnley based gin distillery and provide the majority of our gin on our back bar.

Reedley Hallows also Burnley based are our sole real ale provider – and we also collaborated with them and Sox Connections to create our own mental health inspired beer ‘Proper Natter’.

Behind the scenes we are currently working on a new page on our website to showcase hospitality businesses that provide things that we don’t (accommodation and food). Some have set up special discount codes for our customers (Dyche10 for 10% off) and it’s a two way street when recommending each other.

Finding the right local supplier wasn’t easy, we want suppliers that have the same core values as us. The main one being supporting our community and local charities. Not only do we use their services but we champion them on our social media page and in our venue on banners and posters.

If we closed there would be a huge void in our community and a big loss to these local businesses. Financially and mentally.

About Staff at The Royal Dyche

All our full time staff members are mental health first aid trained, as well as holding their personal alcohol licence and first aid training. It’s so important our team are giving the right resources to work at the pub, boost their confidence and always deliver high standards. Whether it’s engaging with our regulars, our community or other local businesses.

We have one to ones twice a year to set out goals for each individual but also check in on their welfare. And we also have a staff meeting every other month, this is a good opportunity again to check in, but also to bring new ideas to the table and see what areas we can improve as a team.

Part of our agreements with Heineken/Molson Coors are that we get hospitality rewards and tickets each year, these are always passed onto our team.

About Charity Work at The Royal Dyche

Whether it’s through our charity music festival DycheFest or putting on a free community BBQ, we are always finding new ways to raise money for our local charities.

We support three local charities every year, Six Connections Mental Health, Pendleside Hospice and BFC in the Community. All three provide different services to our town and are so important to our community with so many staff and regulars (or someone in their family) using their services on a regular basis.

In our staff meetings we also pick smaller charities to support and each staff member gets to pick their own to ensure smaller charities don’t get left out.

Whether it’s a bake sale, a bucket collection, sponsored run/abseil, a tournament or competition – we just love a challenge!

Below are a list of what we have done in the last 12 months.
