About The Royal Oak

The Royal Oak is a community pub! We have been running the pub for 12 years and we have raised around £30,000 for local and slightly further afield charities. Our most recent fundraising efforts was to house an external defibrillator for the community to use. Every one knows every one in our wee family. The staff look out for all our regulars and visitors to the pub. We are currently donating £500 ever 3/4 weeks to local charities through our fund the joker Draw. We host weekly then monthly bingo sessions. The first one attracted 12 people but now we have 30 to 50 weekly for their bingo. It’s not just a pub it’s a family.

We aren’t just a pub we are a family. When we walk up the street everyone knows you. The bingo group returns every week and they can’t wait to meet up again. We aren’t just a pub, I’m not just a bar man. I’m a lending hand, an ear to many. Fundraising for small groups that are in need of some vital funds. The Royal Oak has also been nominated for an award at the Pub Aid Communtiy Hero awards.

About the Local Community

We continue to support many groups. We host inspire By weekly for a pool afternoon. We host the Huntly rugby club after matches. Our darts league runs it’s self from our pub.

We ask he coming the locals who they would like to see who gets the latest charity venture funds.

About Local Businesses

We keep and buy as much as we can from our local businesses. We use the local baker, the costcuuter, the Morrisons daily for banking to keep the post office in town. We daily use the hardware store and local nickel and dime store. We daily use the local taxi firm if any of the patrons need to get home safely. We use our promo set up to advertise some local businesses free of charge too. We have a small group of independent shops and we try our best to use them weekly or even monthly. Shop Local is what we say I’m sure we aren’t the only ones. Because we are so small we all know each other. It’s best to be able to pop into the local businesses and the owner knows you by your first name.

About Staff at The Royal Oak

Our staff all know how the local community means the most to us. They are all always ready to lend a hand when it comes to a fundraising event. Nothing is ever to big or small for them to get on. As the owners our staffs wellbeing comes first. If we thing there may be something just not right with a member of staff we investigate to see what we can do to help them. They aren’t just staff they are friends and our pub family. We will literally do what we have to keep our team happy and wanting to work here at The Royal Oak.

About Charity Work at The Royal Oak

Bingo, raffles, lucky squares, our weekly joker draw. Race nights, fish eating night. We look and see if anything can be done to raise some vital funds for our local groups. We have had virtual duck races, bonus ball draws. We setup a post on social media to reach out to the community to see who we should fundraise for next. In the past 3 months we have donated £1500 to 3 local groups and heading for £2000 for number 4. We do it, just because we do. We love helping our local groups. The joker draw we do have proven really popular with the local people and a very healthy band of regulars pop in weekly to buy tickets.
