Supporting local businesses is one of our core values. We believe that when local businesses support one another, the whole community benefits.
Wherever possible, we source our produce, goods and services locally, building long term relationships with trusted independent businesses. Alongside our local food suppliers, we work with A&R Print Solutions in Raunds for our menus and printed materials, Image Exclusive Photography in Wadenhoe for our children’s menus design and collaboration, Eden Florists in Thrapston for beautiful floral displays, Ashby’s Allsorts in Thrapston for maintenance support and Buzzbees Electrical in Barnwell for electrical services. These are just a few of the many local businesses we choose to work with.
If we can use someone local, we will. We understand the challenges independent businesses face in the current economic climate, and we believe it’s important to keep investment within our local economy wherever possible.
We also collaborate with neighbouring businesses on events, recommend local attractions, shops and services to our accommodation guests, and actively promote local businesses through conversations and our social media channels. Rather than seeing neighbouring businesses as competition, we see them as partners in creating a thriving local economy. By supporting one another, we help ensure our community remains vibrant, resilient and a destination people want to visit time and time again.
Our suppliers aren’t simply companies we purchase from—they’re trusted partners who have become part of our extended Woolpack family.
We work closely with local butchers, food producers and service providers, building long term relationships founded on trust, loyalty and mutual support. Our meat is supplied by H Johnson & Sons of Thrapston, our coffee by Jute Coffee of Thrapston, and our fruit and vegetables by Adams Apple of Raunds. Choosing local isn’t just a business decision; it’s a commitment to supporting the people and businesses that help our community thrive.
Over the years, many of these professional relationships have grown into genuine friendships. We know each other’s families, celebrate each other’s successes and support one another through challenges. In fact, several of our local suppliers attended our own wedding reception at The Woolpack—a reflection of how these relationships extend far beyond contracts and invoices. We don’t simply buy from them; we champion their businesses, recommend them to others and are proud to call many of them friends.
These relationships work both ways. Our suppliers understand our standards, our values and our customers because they’ve been part of our journey for many years. They know they can rely on us just as we rely on them.
If The Woolpack were no longer here, the impact would extend far beyond our own team. It would affect local suppliers, local employment, village events and the wider rural economy that depends on independent businesses supporting one another. That’s why we believe strong local partnerships are not only good for business—they are essential for building resilient communities.
